Well, I just got my first gas engine after my Min-Kota 40# proved too weak to go upstream on the river. I bought a 4hp Evinrude Lightwin of 1972 vintage. Model is 4206S and it is the weedless version.

Took it out on the lake a couple days ago and it ran great. :)

Went to the river today, and immediately snapped the sheer pin on the prop. :( Got home and took it apart. It looks as if there is a white plastic part inside the prop that needs to come out to install the new pin, but I can't figure out how to get it out. It is cracked as well, so I really don't want to force it. Does anyone have a step-by-step for replacing this pin?

Also, a good resource for finding replacements?

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get the prop apart. I will visit the evinrude site to order the new pin. I plan to post some pics of the process once I get the new pins.

Thanks again, this really is an excellent resource for us beginners.
