72 evinrude 65 hp carb adjustment

In the manual it says to adjust the carbs in a test tank with test prop or in the water in gear. is there any other way to adjust the carbs with a flusher on the motor? for me to do in in the water in gear I need to go to the lake which is an hour away. also has anyone installed a pee hole on one of these motors yet? if so where would be the best place to tap into the water jacket?
