what is the difference in a 6hp "fisherman slow speed" and a "regular" 6hp; is it the prop or more involved gearing or perhaps simply marketing?

Never heard of a "Fisherman Slow Speed". Nobody in their right mind would advertize an outboard as being "slow". Are you reading the label by the slow speed carburetor mixture adjuster knob?

Not sure but I believe the slow speed would have the prop shaft at a 45 degree angle (trolling). I've been told that it helps to cut through weeds as well.

The angled weedless drive lower unit is on the 4hp lightwin. And even that is not called "slow".

Re: '72 Evinrude fisherman question

yep, feeling a bit stupid. the front panel shows "fisherman" below that "slow speed" which i expect does relate to the mixture knob and below that "6HP". Thus, no difference between a "fisherman" and any other 6HP?

thanks
