72 tri hull question

I have my new transome ready to go in but i am wondering? The old transome was 1 1/2 inch thick, i have taken 3/4 inch plywood and put 2 of them together. Can i use pl construction adhesive to glue them together and to glue them to the inside of the boat? I plan on glassing the inside and the top

A few guys have done that and results were good, be sure to allow longer cure time.

The main reason you are doing a transom replacement is due to rot.

Yes you can glue two pieces of 3/4 together but you must seal ALL surfaces .......so you are not facing this project again. Read through the restoration pages here. The majority of people use a layer of polyester fiberglass resin and either CSM (chopped strand mat) or a layer of fiberglass cloth.

Regardless.....it needs to be sealed.

Just poured a new Seacast transom in my '72 tri-hull yesterday. PITA getting all the wood out but the seacast sure went in nice.
