73 25hp seahorse

Gave up on my 20 hp, to many problems to try and fix @ once. Just picked up a 73 25hp for $400. Did all the pre checks: cleaned card, relaced plugs, changed lower unit oil. Anything else i should check b4 i test on water??? Runs great in tub....Cant wait to get it out there!!!!

Model: 25r73a.... Is this a powerful motor? cant keep water in tub when i gun it!

I have the same motor in a 1972, so essentially the same. Planes out my heavy 15' jon boat with 3 guys and fishing gear pretty quick and then zips across the water. Nice motor!

Well its a lot more powerful than a 2 hp but a lot less powerful than a 135!

Seriously they changed the way Hp was measured and reported in about 1983. Your 25 hp is probably about the same power as a 20 hp would be post 1983

Then that would mean the 20hp FD-22E is about 12 to 15 hp. Like i said b4 one burp of the throttle in my tub and all the water is out of it. ALOT better than my old 20.

well just got back from the water and holy sh _ _!!!!! what a strong motor!!! now its time for all the little pieces to complete the motor.
