I pulled off the flywheel and it appears the front black coil on the stator is cracked and leaking goo. that can't be good. I believe that is the one for the top cylinder. that's expensive!
Stators tend to get expensive along with timer bases, rectifiers, and powerpacks. Sorry about your luck but at least you found the problem without paying 60-80 bucks an hour shop labor.
