I have a completely restored '73 Crestliner Muskie. Beautiful little boat but one problem. One of the transom drain liners is corroded almost completly away. Where do you find a replacement liner and once you find it how do you actually replace it.

Hope this is clear, but I will try to explain a little more. In this boat from the inside splash well (below the front of the motor) to the outside rear of the boat are two approximately 2" holes, one on each side of the motor. The holes are lined with a chrome (plated maybe) liner. This protects the wood inside the transom. Its this chrome liner that is corroded away and allowing the wood in the transom to be exposed to the elements.

Does this help >

Re: '73 Crestliner Muskie Transom Question

OK I got it that it is a drain tube. Now the next dumb question. I see that one end is flanged from the factory. After you remove the old one and slip the new one in, how do you flange the other end ? Do them make a giant flaring tool type device ?

People have peened them with hammers.... only one end is actually visible so you would leave the flange end outside the hull and trim the other end about 1/4" long. To properly mount a metal tube I would use 3m 5200 for a permanent seal.
