I have the lower end off and I would like to pressure test it. I've seen it mentioned on the forum but I can't find specific instructions on how to do it. Can someone walk me through it?

Thank you.

Drain the gearcase.

Using either the vent or fill plug hole, apply approximately twelve PSI to the gearcase with a pump that has a pressure gauge and the ability to hold pressure. The gearcase should hold pressure for around 45 minutes.

If the gearcase does not hold pressure, add pressure to 15 PSI and look for leaks.

If the leaks are not found, immerse the pressurized unit in water and look for bubbles.

If you need a fitting, you can use the one that comes with a Lubrimatic Lube Tube, available at many stores.

BOAH, don`t mean to highjack your thread, but I could use your advice. I`m ready to drop my lower unit, which is also in neutral. Please read my thread on this page (can I run without an air silcencer) your help will be greatly apperciated. Also a 1973 115hp rude. Thanks Roger
