I recently aquired a 1973 Johnson 115. according to the previous (and original) owner, the engine has never been decarbonized. The engine runs great, should I perform one or leave well enough alone?

Howdy Georgia.

This is just my opinion, but I would decarb it at least every 100 hours.

I would explain the water decarb treatment, but every time I mention it I start a small war. Use a commercial preparation and follow directions exactly.

Good luck. :)

JB, I used to use water on cars but I never tried it w/2 stroke....I would not participate in the war...have plenty of the water available and will commit this to memory.

Bob :D
