My new (73 vintage) boat has a Merc 1150 that survived a hail storm, sorta. Can anyone tell me of a source for replacement motor covers? I can make the boat look good, but that dented aluminum has got to go.

You should have no problem finding a good used one as there a tons of these scrapped out. You may to repaint or re-decal. If you cannot find one in your area pm me as I have several.:D

That must have been one he!! of a hail storm. Those covers are super solid and can't imagine them being damaged by hail.

Is it the top cover you are looking for or the wrap around cowling?

Check Craigslist and ebay regularly for parts motors.

Re: 73 Merc 115 Model 1150 motor cover

It was one heck of a storm for the North West. Golf ball size hail, 60 mph winds, it did a number on our vehicles and campers. That was in 1996. The PO of the boat ran it that way, but I would just as soon make it look better. I intend to make this boat at least as good as new. From reading this forum I am convinced these old 115hp Mercs are either the worst piece of crap ever built or one of the best older motors you can get. I suspect that the truth is somewhere in between. I will keep it and make it go. I will form my own opinion of its value.
