ordered water pump kit and carb rebuild kits....might as well right. My wife is going to kill me one more weekend she can't be on the water!

I recommend you replace the waterpump base, since you have water leaking into the gearcase, and the driveshaft seal is a prime suspect. Sand all the corrosion off the driveshaft, and oil it up before installing the new waterpump base, oring and gasket. Inspect the waterpump cover for wear on the SS insert. If it is worn down or scored, replace it as well. Always use a new impeller, wearplate and gaskets. Use gaskets on the gearcase plugs.

If the gearcase still has water entering it, you likely have a bad propshaft seal.

Also do you know an easy way to get the base out? I tried prying it up but nothing...my father say's to heat it up a little then pry, and I did take the flush plug out of the side...?

If the flush plug is out, prying is the way. Use two flat bars, and pad the gearcase edge to protect it. Penetrating oil on the studs might help as well. You will likely need to "walk" the base up and out.

Ok, awesome thanks for the info. Was curious if maybe I was missing something.
Do you think the seal behind the prop needs to be changed, i was told there is a seal in there but it is a pain to change, or do you know how to check if it's bad?
