73 SS Super fisherman deck attempt

Thanks to Huron Angler for the idea of doing my deck along the lines of the super fisherman.Those pics he posted made me want to try it on this 73.I think it will turn out ok.Iv'e got my bracing cut and hinges and latches on order as well as carpet and seats and pedestles and mounts and,and so on.Ha,Ha.Another step closer. Sorry for my camera I think it's time to retire it,like me it's having a hard time focusing!

That looks great, I want do something similar in my SS, so I can retain the front seating but still have a casting deck.

You better get that camera fixed because it looks like you're doing an awesome job and I wanna see it!!! I'm not at all happy with the way my bow deck turned out so I'm going to redo it. I'll be watching this with great interest. What hinges and latches did you go with? I used inadequate hinges on mine which is one of my issues. My buddy stepped into my bow from the dock and put his full weight on one of the hatches and blew it right out. I've since added a 2x4 support under the hinges as a temporary reinforcement solution. These bow decks really need to be STRONG to handle people getting in and out of the boat on them.

I remember you posting that pic/idea EZ. Shame on HA.
I am no different than ya'll. I want to do something similiar and I will be watching closely too. Flatsider your going to have to post better than that, we need to see steps along the way. Great work.

EZ posted the pictures in my SS thread as a suggestion last fall, hence the misguided thanks credited to me, no worries

Good plan. I want to do the same at some point. This past summer I just kept everything really simple, since I knew somebody like you would come along with some good ideas and test them out first

I do appreciate you sharing this! Maybe after I rebuild my transom this winter I can focus on the bow some more.

Sorry for the misrep guys! But thanks to you both! I've really obtained a lot of good info and ideas from this forum.and it has definately aided in the build of this boat.I will try to archive a little more as I finish the casting deck.I really liked the super fisherman layout,so I thought I'd give it a try.I do think that it would work extremely well on an 18 footer.The room on the 16 is a little tighter on the walk way,but gives way to a pretty good bit of storage in return.Stainless piano hinge 2" open,3/4 x 3/4 aluminum angle screwed to deck as lid backing and deck support. The same angle is used on the deck support to strengthen the support and tie in the open access hole in the support.The deck support can be drawn in to meet the edges of the consoles without to much trouble,some minor metal adjustments and repositioning the tie ends on the floor support. Anyway I'll try to show you more as I progress.Waiting on parts.Thanks again guys for getting me in to this mess who's idea was this anyway!!!

Certainly not mine. But on the other hand I am not beyond stealing a good idea for myself.

Something to consider. I picked up an 18 SS the other day and will configure the bow deck similar to my 2000 I just sold. Gonna do what you did but shorten the entranceway for access to sitting versus a removable piece.

Yea, I had thought about doing the same thing with mine before going with the full length walkway.gives just a little more leg room and I figured I'd use the the space for storage when I have the full casting deck on it. I may put some sort of a removable rod holder down the center,maybe some pvc pipe with a quick detach mount.I'll ponder it.I dont want to start cluttering it up,but if I can make use of the real estate on board,(because we all know how valuable that is on a boat of any size) I'll make use of it.Still waiting on parts so I can get back at it.Talk at cha later.
