Well here's the latest on the hull paint.
I really like the Blue Water Marine paint. It mixed well with the xylene thinner and was a breeze to spray.Started with a good sanding, followed with a wash down of plain water.Let dry. Then used a gallon of white vinegar to a gallon of water and brushed entire boat with solution and let dry.Wiped down with tack cloth and applied a light film of etching primer on exposed aluminum.(almost entire boat)Next came the polyurethane primer. Two coats, with about twenty minutes between coats. Then followed with first finish coat about thirty minutes later. After the RAIN on the first finish coat oh yea! Let it dry overnight, resanded and recoated. Now it went from gloss white to frost white . I'll probably resand and put a uv rated polyurethane clear coat on it to get it to really shine, But all in all it covered pretty well and looks much better than it was....I keep telling myself. Anyway here's some pics.Gonna have to let it sit and bake for about two weeks before I can flip and start on topside.

Looks pretty good, keep us posted on how you like the paint, Im thinking of using this on my Holiday when its time to paint, really curious how durable/scratch resistant it is after cure time.

I'm looking for durable/scratch resistant paint as well. The paint is my biggest concern for me when I redo my boat.

Charlie....you paint yours first and I will come take a look and see if my fingernail goes into it :D.

Oh, btw, where the heck ya been???

It's a mid 70's 55 hp.It came with the boat and has great compression, starter works, gearbox works, would probably run but I bought a 2000 70hp Johnson to go on it.So I'm probably going to sell it.

I'll tell ya what, just after an overnight dry, when I went back to do a resand that stuff was as tuff as nails.I started out by hand with 320 and it wouldn't touch it.Went to 220 and barely scratched it.Then went to 100 grit on a palm sander with light pressure and got it cutting.Once it knocked the skin off I went back to 220 an got it smooth, cleaned it and re-shot. so it seems to be pretty tough, although the proof is going to be seen on loading and unloading. By the way the manufacture says two 2 mil coats mininum. JimmyJ
