I have a Ted Williams 1974 4.5 HP that has been sitting a few years. All gas was drained when stored. I put in some gas and she fired right up on the 2nd. pull. Idled down and run great. also the pump was working great with a nice mist coming out. However it looked like the lower exhaust dumped a little bit of gas in the water barrel. Anyone know what might cause this? I don't remember a problem when it was stored. Other than that it ran great, but I hate to run it anymore until I find out whats going on. Thanks for any help. John:(

I could say your lucky it even runs....LOL....but a little gas in the barrel is so normal, what it need is to be put on a boat and have the dog pee run out of it, but you may want to get a new float needle and viton seat, maybe a whole carb kit sooner than later if you plan to use it this summer.

Hey thanks much. I know you don't like these motors I have seen what you have written other guys about them. All I know is its been very dependable when I used it years before. But can't hardly disagree with you on the Johnny rudes. Great motors. Thankyou for your reply. John

yeah your right I hate them, thats why I have two 7.5s single cylinder's, one clutch shift and one deluxe with F-N-R & one 9.9 water cooled and a 15hp water cooled, a brand new NLA reeds and head included short block AV817 for the deluxe still in the box, 3 sets of rings, a new AV817 NLA piston, doubles and triples of every gasket, flapper valves, pump bladders and oils seals& impellers for everthing I own, three extra solid state ignitions & brand new points ignition setup's, A box full of in line replacment modules I designed and built using the Stoller fixView attachment 129762, 3 extra engines and 90% of my online time devoted to helping other people get there Eska, Ted williams and Gamefishes back on the water.....etc etc etc and I own and moderate the Eska yahoo group, now with about 250 members.

The truth is I always root for the underdog, and your right the Eska is very dependable and easy to fix....And I have spent the last three winters rebuilding/re-manufacturing these jewels from the ground up...LOL...I'm a hater no doubt...;)

I bet you rebuild these things and help other people fix theirs, just so you'll have more of them in the world to hate, Mr Crabs. Your blatant Tecumsism reveals your insensitivity to these motor's feelings, and I think there should be a massive federal campaign to improve the image of the motors, and fines on those who denigrate them.

PS - That's a pretty clean remote capacicor replacement unit there.

No problem John, if you knew what I was working on Eska related right now you could justifiably say" he don't like them today!"

best regards,
