The top of the boat is white and will remain as so... the inner side panels and dash area is red and will remain so... I hate he idea of having a fishing boat with a red bottom but is most likely what it will have along with a red transom... what do you think... all suggestion are welcomed...

Well if you hate the red bottom then now's the time to make the changes. If you don't plan on removing the windshield then you can always prop her up on one side, strip the paint and then repeat on the other side.

The boat is stripped of everything... she is a bare shell... with the red interior I can't imagin using another color... light Blue works for me for fishing but I do not think it will look very good... open to all suggestions...

I like the combo of white, red and bare...... I can't recall which SC topic used it, but in a white topsides, red hull sides, and bare bottom, but IMO it looked FANTASTIC! It'd be a little different to have the hull bottom be red, but the combo is great.

That's right you did take her down, the older pics above WS and steering.. got it.

Color is a personal thing, pretty much everyone knows what they like and don't like.

Remember that old Oak... its near two cord... should last up to two years in the pit.. depending on when the weather cools down... It was 38F monday morning around 4 AM... this is the time of year when we enjoy a warm fire in the evening after dinner...

The Admiral has expressed that she really like's the white over bare aluminum with the red bottom... it would appear now that this color scheeme is writen in stone... I pray that the fish like it... if not there is going to be a battle year after next... to be honest I realy like it also... I will have to have decals made up for the name and numbers...

Those OEM ends of the rub rail are a real problem for me... any suggestions??? Now that I think about it, I just sent 700 parts to be anodized... I wounder if I can sand/grind these smooth enough to have them anodized... what do you think... Red... or Black, maybe chrome or white... Hmmm...

Thinking out load I think that I could paint the rub rail ends, the insert, and the frame all red to match the bottom color... its about the rite size to not be too much of an accent... maybe about rite, or do you think that I might be "Pimping" my ride... for that matter I could do the windshield frame in red also... Hmmmm... I think that I will be putting some thought into this idea... it would be most helpful if you guys would do the same and tell us all what you think...

The rub rail at the gunwales could have just the insert in red also... Picture it... all red lower side rub rail, gunwale rub rail insert red and windshield from red...

Maybe I should scratch the windshield frame, and let it match the naked aluminum side... think about it... especially you guys who have already done your boats... It will be easier for you to imagine... I rally would like to hear what you have to say...

Hard to say bill, several ways can look awesome. Like mentioned above, personal pref. Is the key here.

Attwood used to make the RR end caps but they've pretty much all been bought up. There's a bunch of threads about these caps, even in my Chief thread we talked about them. I think you're going to have to refurb yours which don't look bad at all... Want to see what a bad one looks like?

WOW... I feel alot better now, Mr Watermann... No offense of course... does anyone know if paint will stick to these???... Idea's on getting them ready for paint, solvent, stripper, sand, grind wire brush all of the above???

I have 400 and 600 grit sand paper... will this be good for the boat(bare aluminum) before buffing and polishing and also sanding these end caps...

Depends on how deep the pits are on how much sanding might be needed. Maybe do a test area.

I have used wire wheels and steel wool on rails and fittings with good success.

WOW... so I watch a video about buffing and polishing an aluminum boat... when he starts I can see that the boat looks near new and he had sanded with 600 and 1500... now he is buffing with brown clay and finishing with white clay... it looked so simple... this is about an hour buffing with brown clay(the shinny area) it looks like black chrome... it is going to take quite some time to get all of the oxidised aluminum off... right now it appears that I am just moving it around to some degree... but I must say it is very appealing... if anyone here will comment on their technique or any news as to what I am in for please... with this bum wing I am going to need all the help that I can get... so far I have sanded with 600(its all that I can find for my air sander(6 inch sticky) washed with paint thinner, began buffing...

I am using 8 inch, 80 layer, soft buffing/polishing wheel... on a dewalt side grinder... I believe that this side grinder is faster spinning(RPM) than the automotive buffer that the man on the video had... I wonder if it is too fast or is that possible...
