Hi all!

Went ahead and picked up my newest project - a '74 Islander 21'. All the research I've read indicates that this is a great boat.

The outside is in really nice shape. No leaky rivets, dents, dings, etc. Heck, the outdrive doesn't even have a scratch on it!

The motor runs great, and the hour meter says 408.

Here's the bad news... The inside is destroyed. Seats missing, bad flooring, etc.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has a '74, that they'd be willing to share some photographs of, and perhaps post a link.

I am wondering what the exact layout of the boat is, what the cuddy's supposed to look like, etc. I really want to restore her to original condition, but am always open to customizing things.

And last, I HAVE to ask the age-old question, how fast will she go? It's got the 160HP 6-CYL Merc in it.

Thanks
Rick

These folks may have something to show you.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/starcraft_boats/

You can also check out the iboats classified ads. You can sort it by manufacturer, date, make/model, etc. and look for similar boats with pics.

The other suggestion I have is to do a google search for used boats. Often they have some good photos.

Appreciate the reply Fishingdan; been there though. Even have my runabout posted in there. I also saw someone in here (can't remember offhand) that totally gutted and redid a '68 Chieftain, which is pretty much the same kind of boat. I've been using thier pics as a reference.

Thanks again
Rick

Hey Rick,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Starcraft :p
I have a 1973 Chiefton I am restoring. The interior except to the inside left of the cabin door is intact. By the looks of the drain out the side a sink went there but it must have been needed somewhere else. It has a pilot and co-pilot seat on the deck and that’s it. I tried to link a pic to my Aol web site before and kept screwing it up but I’d be happy to send you what ever you need, just give me your e mail address. Mine’s daveg16101@aol.com . There’s not a lot to em, just a common V bunk and a counter top with a small cabinet, drawer and an icebox beside it. I was thinking of putting my toilet to the left of the door but I got a lot of mechanical work before I get to the cosmetic stuff.
