Well, here's some pics of my project. It's my first boat so am excited as well as nervous about getting started with paint and interior make-over. Engine runs strong and most systems seem to function well so hopefully will not give to many problems. I will be looking for lots of advice and will keep everyone informed as to progress...

Good looking project. I wanna see some pics of the big ol' Chrysler that's surely hangin' on the back of that rig.

Re: '75 Arrowglass 15' tri-hull project

Thanks ez. I will post some pics tommorrow. You are right it has a Chry. 115hp back there. Today I started my teardown. My plan is to repaint and upholstery update now so I can get out on the water and enjoy it this summer and then next winter replace the deck/stringers/as needed. We moved last fall and had to store the boat over the winter so getting a late start on it and itching to get out in it. Pulled out all seats, upholstered side-panels, trim pieces, windshield, rub-rail, etc earlier today. Now comes the clean-up and start prep to paint. Where is a good place to look for trim acc. like the rub-rail bumper, bimini top, replacement hardware, etc.?

The majority of rub rail is made by a company called Taco so you may have some luck searching for that. Right here at iboats is a good place to start looking for anything boating related you need.

Thanks ez. Here's a pic of the Chry 115 and some pics of the teardown. I've gotten most of the trim, seats, etc. out, just need to remove the front cushions. Then the motor...how's the best way to strap that onto an engine hoist? I plan to build a stand as shown elsewhere in the forum. Have been gathering materials for the paint prep.

Have been gathering materials, equipment, etc. for repairs and paint prep. Love that Harbor Freight store...new dual action sander, air stapler for upholstery, 2 new paint guns. Now looking towards an engine hoist and dolly's to move the boat and motor around off the trailer. Have been working with the body filler. Just about ready to start the prep...:)

You are getting to the fun part, hours of sanding! I'm not sure on the Chargers...but my Merc, has a threaded section in the center of the flywheel. I bought a lifting eye that screws right in. Works great. What colors are you going with?

Re: '75 Arrowglass 15' tri-hull project

Thanks for the info. Not to steal your thunder but I had narrowed it down to a metallic burgundy/wine color. I love those tones and would go with the off-white interior upholstery I had planned. However I may have come up with an alternate plan today. I came across a deal on CL for a '82 Glastron 17' openbow in a lot better shape than my arrowglass. It has a 65hp Johnson and matching trailer and a nice cover all for $650. I like my trailer better and could switch to my 115hp Chrysler and either part out or sell the arrowglass with the other motor and trailer. I think I should be able to recoup the $650 and maybe more. This Glastron for the most part just needs to be cleaned and buffed. Eventually , (this winter) I will probably update the interior but structurally and cosmetically it is in a LOT better shape. Also I love this hull style (a lot like Jay's and some others I have seen on here) There are some title issues that need to be taken care of first but I think it is going to work out! Fingers crossed... I will post some pics later tonight.

The Johnson is not an electric shift so it should be a good motor. Prolly worth some cash if it runs.

Arch, Didn't I see somewhere on your thread or Jay's a website to research a boat with your boat ID number? I tried to do a forum search but apparently didn't input the search correctly. I wanted to find out some info about this Glastron - ie...model, exact year (for sure), and any other info available thru this search. Thanks for any input you or anyone else might have. The number is GLAB4452M81l

Re: '75 Arrowglass 15' tri-hull project

Well I ended up finding a differant hull on CL that I think turned out to be a great deal. It is a 86 17' Rinker open-bow that was listed without a motor but with a trailer for $500. After horsetrading a little and finding out the owner would really like to keep his trailer and the fact I really liked the trailer I had I was able to pick it up for $275 and got him to throw in a homemade trailer for my tri-hull, a hummingbird depthfinder, as well as switch out my motor to the Rinker. The boat definately needs cleaning and the red gelcoat has some oxydation but overall not bad shape. Only thing I'll need to fix this winter is a keel repair that was done with the previous owner is a little wavy so I plan to sand down and smooth out this winter. Overall I think I came out all right and will have a lot less work to get in the water than with the tri-hull. I think I should be able to sell the other hull or trade it out for some other parts and get even more of my money back. Here's some pics...

One thing that I do need to know is the holes for the previous outboard and my Chrysler don't match up so we are drilling new lower holes. What do I use to fill in the old holes...marine caulk and then gel-coat repair patch the inside and outside? thanks for any info...:)

Re: '75 Arrowglass 15' tri-hull project

Well I finally got home with the Rinker! Last night I went to the guys house and we switched the motor from my tri-hull to the Rinker then since he was keeping his trailer and I needed to have the boat on mine we went to a little boat ramp near his house and switched them out. He was amazed at how fast the 115 Charger was on this boat. He has a 15' VIP runabout with a 105 Charger and he said it was a LOT faster than his motor had been on this boat. I am very pumped. I got it home and will start tonight cleaning, getting the wiring and cables tucked back away, filling the old motor mount holes (mentioned above), etc. and getting ready to splash. Since this is my first boat I have a lot of extras to outfit with to be ready (vests, fire ext., fenders, lines, etc.) so I am shooting for the middle of next week since I don't want my first time out to be in the Memorial Day mess. I will post more pics tonite and probably start a new thread for this boat.
