75 Horse Mariner stalling and cutting off

My 75 horse Mariner started to misfire all of the sudden after running great all day. I also noticed that it started dripping gas from under the motor cover at the same time. When running at full throttle it seemed to do fine but whenever I would take it out of gear to idle it would just cut off. A couple of weeks ago it did the same thing when I launched the boat but it ran fine the rest of the day. Are there any suggestions on what could be going on. Thanks in advanced for the help.

Does the primer bulb pump up hard?

The primer pump is fine. I am wondering if one of my plugs isn't firing. Could that be the reason why gas would leak out in a sense because it isn't burning off?

The reason I asked about the primer bulb is because if it can't get hard that sometimes indicates a carb float problem which might explain the excess fuel. Where is it leaking from?

not exacly sure where but it seems to be coming from the carb area. I also just checked the primer bulb and it got hard. If the float was stuck could it be possible that would become unstuck from the ride home from the lake if I hit a bump or something. If that is the case how can I keep it from becoming stuck in the first place?

I guess it is possible you have an intermittent float problem. But you should be able to duplicate the spillage of fuel by squeezing real hard on the primer bulb. With engine off, have somebody squeeze hard on the bulb while you closely observe the carb for any leakage. If the carb starts gushing then you will have to adjust the float level at a minimum. May require a new float/needle-seat or an entire carb rebuild kit.

It might also be some other leak that is causing the entire problem. It's very important that you find out the source of the leak. Maybe the fuel pump area?
