I took my boat out for the first time yesterday. It ran great and sustained full speed the first part of the day. After a few hours of fishing when running it at wot it just shut off. It would start back up and after running for a minute or so it would do the same thing. Once it started back up it would idle without stopping until I shut it off. I was using last years gas in the can. Could this be the reason for the motor stopping suddenly? What wuold be my next course of action? Thanks!!!

If that motor was made by Merc and has the square type fuel pump you may have bad check valves. Kits from Merc include new style check valve and instructions for installing them.

Start with the tank:water, junk etc. Then the hose and squeezie ball:eek:ld cracks etc.Fuel pump:junk in the filter bad diafram.
Ethanol is causing major problems. It will ruin older hoses causing them to delaminate and cause big problems.J

I checked the hoses an found that the small hose connecting the oil injector pump and the fuel pump had a big crack in it. Could that let in air in the system?
