Can't get my old 6 Johnson running again. She quit running about 2 weeks ago so I found water in gas tank so drained, dried and replaced with new fuel. When that didn't get her going again I systematically cleaned and jetted carb twice, replaced points, plugs and condensers, gas lines, connectors and bulb from gas tank, and installed new fuel pump. I've triple checked everything, still won't start. Have good spark at both plugs and fuel flow from new pump. Only thing I haven't done is rebuild carb but she was so clean and the engine was running OK till two weeks ago. I'm stumped. And by the way, the outer edge of flywheel has markings "T SET POINTS" then 180 degrees around has "B SET POINTS" which seems to line up with marks on throttle plate. Do I use these somehow to set timing? I've just set points at .020 by rotating cam to "TOP" for each set of points. Am I doing something wrong? Help!!

Hi.Best regards from Poland.
why did you put your fingers on ignition system?
first you should know that your engin needs to start:
1.spark on both cylinders
2.benzin/petrol
3.air to mix with petrol.
than check if you have this all contains(1+2+3)
if you have that check your compresion on both cylinders, you schould have at least around 100 psi on both cylinders( 6 bar in europena meserment).
if compresion is ok and there is enough of vacum to suck the air and petrol!
clean and asemble with right way your carb.
my advice to read all articles (gaps 82 to 110 of http://www.sschapterpsa.com/ramblings/Ramblings.html
pleas ansver if i helped You

You may have had junk in the tank, along with the water. The fact that the engine ran well previously, means nothing, if this is true.

I recommend a carb rebuild, including removal of the lead shot in the slow speed passage.

Does it backfire? Spit? do anything? do you have spark at the plugs? If so, have you tried injecting a little gas directly into the cylinders or carburetor?
Are you sure that fuel is reaching the float bowl? Take the fuel line off the carb and pump very gently to see if anything comes out.
