'75 Johnson 6HP impeller replacement

Hey there. I removed the four bolts attaching the LU to the exhaust housing and removed the shift linkage screw but the LU won't drop. Do I need to use more umph or is there another linkage under the power head that needs to be removed?

Nope, that's all you have to remove. But what you do need to do is remove the spark plugs and slowly rotate the flywheel till the lower unit will drop down. There is a pin through the top end of the drive shaft that has to align with a slot as it comes down.

When you do get it off, note the position of the pin so you can put it back together without a lot of hassle. And don't turn the flywheel while the lower unit is off.
