75hp force will not run

I have a 1996 force 75 hp on my pontoon, it started running very poorly and would die. I made it back to the dock, i tought it had water in the gas as it acted very similiar a couple of years ago and had water in the gas.

i pulled the bowl and no water. i checked for spark and it seems intermittent, sometimes i can see spark other times i cannot.

i pulled the carb to make sure it is not stopped up, it looked like new.

i couldn't get it to start with starting fluid, after i tried i checked for spark and could not find any.

later it started breifly.

I feel it is getting a very weak spark and sometimes none at all.

I was told it could be the stator, switch box or the trigger. I cannot find a switch box on it.

any help would be greatly appreciated...

There is no switchbox on that model.

Stator, trigger, and 3 cdm modules.

If you have no spark on all 3 plugs, it is probably not the cdm's. Unlikely that all 3 would fail at once.

Weak spark would lead me to think stator.

I no longer have a manual for that motor, so can't give you any specifics to test the trigger or stator. sorry.

I hate to start replacing parts without knowing what is wrong, how can i check the stator???

Having the same problem, done everything but the stator. how can you check it? please help. thank you

the engine runs goos until the transmition is change to f or r. in neutro is run ok but with up or down of about 100 rpm. It is like it has no power. . ..
