76 25hp Evinrude bogged down

[69 Alumacraft]

Replaced fuel pump and got it running but it starts to sputter and smoke and then dies after about 5 minutes. Plugs appear blackened , if I clean them up it will run again and do the same thing. I have a 69 25 hp that ran great but LU is gone. I am thinking of just switching the carb and trying it out and rebulding the other carb this winter. Any suggestions, is it easy to take carb off and switch as a whole without messing with the internals?

It's not a hard job to swap carbs, however, I'm not really sure if they are interchangable. (It's worth a try). It's my opinion that if you are willing to swap carbs, I'd say to just re-build the carb on the '76 and be done with it.
