Hi everyone, unfortunatley i've been here before with this 'stupid' motor. As I stated in another persons thread it wasnt running very well so today I took the flywheel off and found one of the condensers came loose from its 'mount' and seemed to cause a considerable of wear on the flywheel among other parts which I dont know the name of. Ill try n take some pics. Anyway I replaced the condenser put the flywheel back on and tried to start it. Well for some reason the flywheel seems to not turn independtly of the stator plate which in turn turns it to a point to where I have no control over the throttle. meaning it advances to a point to where the throttle sticks. Its remote btw. Strange I know but does anyone have an idea of what the hecks going on. Thanks, sorry its an Evinrude

The flywheel is hitting something. That problem is common when somebody has replaced coils and didn't set the laminated cores flush with the machined edges on the plate. Might be that or something else.

Re: '76 35 hp flywheel?

Thanks F R, the flywheel is definitley hitting/rubbing on something. Its as if it goes down onto the shaft too far and when it turns everything goes with it. Laminated cores? Can you explain this ? Honestly I just want to get this thing running and get it out of my life. Which brings in the money equation, I would just take it to the shop but i've been off work for almost 3 mo, and there's not alot of $ left to spend on this thing. Any help is apprecitated, Thans, Dean

PS: would it help if I took some pics of how the flywheel has been worn on the inside?

Holy crap, I reckon it is rubbing on something! (Or was). Your second two pictures show the laminations and the machined edges that must align so the coils don't rub on the magnets. But what is making all that wear in the flywheel?? I can't see that from here.

Hey F_ R doesnt look so good does it lol?? Funny thing is before I put the new condenser in it at least kinda ran. Wouldnt have taken it out on the water but? I think after having two condensers come free and ride around in there like it was a free carnival that in time they just tore things up to what they are now. If you want you can look at the thread ''82 35 Evinrude' on page 2 which you already replyed to, there is a pic of the condenser I took out. Also how about the wear in the second two pics? Does that look normal? Thanks again for any input.

Oh, after looking at it closer, that IS a condenser isn't it? I didn't recognize it in it's reconfigured state.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the second two pictures look ok to me.

Re: '76 35 hp flywheel?

As far as whats causing all the wear on the flywheel is when the condensers came loose and just rode around in there rubbing on anything and everything as far as I can see. Kinda weird but it seems to be the theme to anything motorized i own.
