I live in sunny central california at about sea level. I took my boat to utah to try it at lake powell witch is 4 or 5000 feet above sea level
At home it runs great but when I got to powell it was very hard to start and would barely run at best. I couldnt tell if it was flooding or starving for fuel. What I would like to know if it was running like that because of the sea level and if so what could I have done to make it right.
major bummer driving 800 miles each way to find out my boat wont run:grumpy:. Thanks for any and all help. Pete
Its got carbs and I was about the only person with a outboard

So I am not a mind reader is home in your driveway on muffs.. Is home a lake by your house, a mud puddle, or the pond across the rd. Or a lake of a different elevation? Something could have failed on the trip. If dont want to do.the tests take it to a dealer.

Easy to run on muffs in the driveway - even if it’s only running on one cyl.

Check compression on all 3 cyl and check for spark as well. With any luck it’s just a loose wire or a coil pack or something.

Runs great in the ocean and at lakes.Sorry if I offended anyone but all I really want to know is if the difference in elevation can just make a motor not run right? Again thanks for the info

Yes the difference in elevation does cause problems.-----The carburetors have fixed jets and no adjustment.-----There must be a shop in your area / state that understands this.-----Talk to someone about getting replacement jets and how to install them in your carburetors.
