One of the cylinders on my outboard is leaking at the seal on top, where the ram comes out of the cylinder. It is the style with the motor on the side, not under the motor. How do I repair the leak?
Do NOT EVEN TRY to repair that, without a manual. You are working with VERY high pressure hydraulic fluid. It can KILL you.

Rebuild is not that hard, WITH A MANUAL.
Yep...what DJ said. Don't try it without the manual. I have the same TNT unit on my 50. One good thing is that the cylinders can be removed for repair without taking the whole shebang apart. Oring/seal kits are available from your local John/Rude dealer. BUT...get the manual.
A few parts are different, like the coils. 76 coils were black, 75 coils were green, don't ask me what the difference is besides color, because I have never been able to find out.

Almost all of the working parts are the same in the 115 crossflows from 1973 through 1976. That should not make much difference in working with the service manual anyway, because the parts manual for the 1976 115 Evinrude is on line at the BRP site and you can always refer to it: web page
