76 Johnson 25hp 25EL76E Questions

I Have this motor and working on a performance issue. Does not run
on WOT in water only 1/5 speed at best. Runs solid no break up in a barrel

I want to change the bulb and fuel lines.
What is correct fuel line diameter ?
How long should it be ? Does the lenght matter (old one about 95 inches)
60 inches should do.

Bulb size mine is very small maybe 3 1/2 inches long. Will larger matter ?
6 gallon tank
Lastly in front of the carb there is the lean/rich adjustment housing with a filter but its 1 1/2 inches in front of the carb what function does this
fillter perform?

in front of the carb, that is not a filter, it is a sound deadener. fuel line come as a complete unit. usually 72 inches. 5/16 fuel hose is correct for that motor, buy a 3/8 will work fine also.

check your spark on both cylinders, and compression. it really sounds like you have a fuel problem, air leak, weak fuel pump, or contaminated (dirty) carb.

Thanks for the quick reply and advice. This motor ran great first 3 times out.
The foam inside the hood cover is shredding. I cleaned it out to prevent further contamination. Fuel /carb.

you could have foam in the reed valves it the foam was really bad.
