Hi
i am new here
I am working on a 76 mercury 850 and new a heads up on this part and where I could find one. The wires is junk. I was told it was a kill switch and should be connected with a good ground. It’s blue and looks like it once had 2 wires. I also seek help on the connection
Thanks
JR

Welcome to IBoats,

The switch is filled with Mercury and closes a contact when the motor is a somewhat horizontal position.
this was intended to prevent the motor from stay running when coming up out of the water

You could just remove it and use the motor without or find a "good used"
You should really look at the rest of the wiring as they will be in a similar condition!

Thanks for the input and the diagram!!!
much appreciated

I hope this helps you in your adventure, these were very good motors.
IF...you repair/replace most (if not) all wiring & pay close attention to all critical components they will last you for a long time.

keep us posted
