76 Merc 850 fuel pump rebuild?

Hey guys, I've been having some fuel delivery problems with my motor. Im rebuilding the carbs as well as the fuel pump. I know how to do the carbs but I don't know what to do with the fuel pump, or where it even is for that matter. Whenever i pump the bulb in the fuel line, it never gets stiff and if i take the motor casing off i can see fuel squirting out this round thing on the side of the motor when I'm pumping it. Any thoughts or pictures?

Without your s/n it is hard to confirm the year but here is the parts list for a '76 85.

probably 25-35480 oring leaking on the round fuel filter, start with that first.

yeah i bought a fuel pump rebuild kit for it. I just didnt know how to install it, but i think i figured it out thanks to that diagram. Also im new to this, where would i find the S/N on my motor?

S/N should be on a data plate screwed to the swivel bracket. You should be able to see it from the front looking between the two transom clamps which hold the engine to the boat.
