Hey my 77 evinrude 140 goes into gear just fine, after it goes in gear it will run for about 3 seconds and die, it stars back up goes into gear starts to go then dies. Any clues?
Carbs rebuild last winter good even compression on all clynders.it only does it about 3 times then it will run like a champ but after you shut her down for about 30 min it doesn't want to go again.it idles about 800 in gear.
I am getting good spark on all the clynders, when I pulled the plugs tho they were black and fuel soaked, I have only been running these plugs about 2 months, is this normal for these engines?
Yes it is normal. You can help by making sure that the engine is running at the correct temperature with functioning thermostats and by using synthetic or synthetic blend TC-W3 oil.
Older two stroke engines need a full de-carbon treatment every 100 hours or annually, and fuel treatment like Carbon Guard in the gasoline constantly.
If you use BRP XD-50 oil, it has the carbon treatment built in.
I am running champion something or others, they were the ones recomended by some kind fellas on this forum. Sounds easy enough, do you think this could be causing my trouble?
