Re: 77 55 EVINRUDE IDLING PROBLEM

I changed the fuel hose which goes from the fuel pump to upper carburator. I contolled others, they are really as new.. I also changed the linkage hose between the upper and lower carbs. No change! I applicated evinrude-johnson engine tuner.. No change!! at the end I changed the spark plugs. No change!! ( Old plugs electrods were brown-white before using engine tuner)

What is interesting thing after draining the lower carburator while changing hoses, idle become very clear but after 3-5 minutes my chronicle problem came back.. As I wrote before, firing and pickin-up seems excellent at all speeds after the fast idle. .. No smoke, no black residues at the exhaust relief. What else I can try??

Does it blow fuel back out of the lower carb? What I mean is does it seem like it is spitting fuel back at you?

Sounds like you still have some crud in the low speed jet. Did you soak the carbs overnight in cleaner and blow them out with compressed air? Just spraying carb cleaner in them will not work. I know you have already had them off but try it again. You should be getting good at this by now. Also, like james williams said make sure that your float is adjusted correctly on the bottom carb. Should be level when turned upside down. One more thing, when you have the carb off shine a flashlight behind it and look into your reed valves to make sure that nothing is sitting on them. You will see it right away if there is.

praetor......... I had this same problem with my 140 a few days ago. I went back through my link and sync in the manual and found that my timing at idle was off by 2*. I got the timing within spec's and walah!!! Purrs like a kitten now. If you removed the carbs, rebuilt them, and put them back on, double check your link and sync to be certain you didn't miss something as well. Good luck....................... ALAN
