I just bought a 1977 70 hp rude and don't know if water pump is working well.

When the gear is in neutral, water comes out like spiting.

When I put it in gear there is not mutch of water coming out. Is this normal?

At crusing speed it seems to have a fair level of water coming out.

I was told when put into gear the water might exits through the prop. is this correct?

Any help, any idea I don,t want to burned it

Thanks, Martin

Re: 77 Evinrude 70hp

If you have any doubts about your water pump, CHANGE IT. They are cheap and not hard to change. I would also change the thermostat(also cheap and somewhat easy) I have seen too many great outboards cooked because someone thought the impeller and/or t-stat would make it just a little longer.:(
