A little bit out of my comfort zone here so be gentile :)

My friend has a 77 Ski Natique with a ford 351 Windsor that runs backwards - counter rotating. I am helping him re-build the bottom end. He ran it low on oil and it developed a rod knock.

To make a long story short it seems the main oil seals on these engines are hard to find. Especially in counter rotating models. I would have though it would be the same part. If anyone could point me in the right direction, give me a part number or shed light on this I would be most grateful.

Many thanks!

I wasn't aware that the rear-main seal would be different for a counter-rotation unit? It being a 77 though would most likely indicate the 2-piece rear main, as opposed to 1-piece that was used on later models (mid-80's and up I think).

It is a two piece seal - Are these readily available? My friends contact at Ski Nautique said he's been trying to source one for another coustomer for two months.

I wouldnt think this part would be so difficult to find. Is he blowing smoke?

Ayuh,... Ford has been out of the marine motor business for Years,...
And,...
Counter-rotating motors have also fallen by the wayside of history...

I can't help you, but the seals Are in fact different, depending on the rotation...

Fel-Pro has the front seal you need. The rear is standard as oil retention grooves are cut in the crank in the proper direction-IF it still has the factory counter-rotation crank. 'nutcase

Thank you all!!

Nutcase -

It does still have the CR crank.

Would you have the Felpro part number handy? I'm not having much luck searching for the front in counter rotating....

And if I read you right the rear is shared on both - correct?
