77 Johnson 35hp lower unit parts??

I need some lower unit parts for my 77 35hp Johnson outboard....It was popping out of gear.<br />The dealer that I took it too by my house took it apart and wouldn't put it back together....<br /><br />Does anyone know of a place I can send mine and get it rebuilt???? The gears appear to be brand new, the problem may be in the linkage.<br /><br /> Is there a place that I can send my lower unit to and get it back rebuilt???...Thanks Warren

if it was popping out of gear its hard to believe the gear and clutch dog survived, only takes a few times and the dogs get rounded.<br />that motor has no actual shift linkage adjustment its either right or assembled incorrectly. either way once it starts popping out carefully inspect the engagement lugs on both the dog and the gear for rounded corners, check the cradle assy for wear. I cant remember when the little jonnys went from an external locking device to one mounted entirly inside the hood but either way all the parts have to be there and functional or it wont work.<br /> if its already apart grab a manual and reassemble it, only special tool required is a good set of inside snap ring pliers.

Interesting that they would tear it down and not put it back together.What's the scoop on that ?<br /><br />DHP

I am with ya DHP, if its reusable, those units were quick easy gravy money.
