77 merc 115 or 78 115 Johnson?

I recently purchased a CVX16 glastron with a good running 115 Johnson. My old ski boat has a 77 mercury 1150. This motor is a good runner as well. I'm thinking of keeping the merc. Any info would be appreciated such as performance differences, fuel consumption and reliabililty differences. Thanks in advance.<br /><br />Zane

Personally, I'd stay with the Merc. I like the smooth running of the inline 6, I also like the power curve if this engine. Mercury is known to under rate their motors. I had a Merc 1250 ('70) and blew away a late 80's 125.<br /><br />Good luck in your choice and I hope you have fun this summer with it.<br /><br />Craig
