Ok Finally got this project boat in the water on the weekend had........ an awful exhaust leak at the underneath of the manifold, changed gasket, but still has a very noisy air leak suspect.. a crack in manifold at head but?......... other then that runs perfect..
What I would like to know is what kind of performance I could expect from boat2500 lbs it.. lbs....it seems to take a bit to plane out and speed seemed pretty good, but I was a dissapointedmy dissapointed....my 17 17' boat with 40hp 40hp johnson johnson was considerably slower, but that expected huge expected...huge difference in size gas size......gas mileage also seemed poor in 165hp 165hp.....
Can anyone their me thier thoughts on sizetype similar size/type of boat engine just this engine?.....just want something to to also it to....also throttle seems very touchy, small movement changes crazy can like crazy...can this be adjusted better?
Thanks

Sounds like a nice boat if you get it fixed up. I can't imagine getting good performance with a manifold leak. I would get that fixed. Get a service manual if you dont have one. The trottle/cable linkage may be hanging up, causing the abrupt changes in trottle. Good luck!

Wow I used the spell check feature when I posted this and look at how bad this reads...doubled up words and added them in different places.....wont use that again....lol

Thanks, it is a really nice boat, and I will have that exhaust leak fixed in the early part of next week.
