78 120 oudrive compatible???

I need a new lower unit for my 78 120 I/O...I found a good deal on a 898 serial number 4783372

Anyone know if this will fit? any difference in the lower units?

Turns out the guy has the complete outdrive...cheap and in working condition...what are the chances I can swap out the whole thing? different gears?

Yep,.. You can use the Lower unit,...
So long as the vertical shaft spline count is the same,...

The Upper unit is of No use to ya...

Yea i figured that...Is it easy to split these drives? I'm not the best mechanic but I'm willing to learn...

One last question, as far as complete outdrive swaps go, would I only be able to get the same exact outdrive that I currently have (1978 120) or are there others that would bolt right on?
