'78 1400 piston/ring question

so i went looking for some pistons for this 1400...appears Mercury and sierra have went from the 3 rings to 2 piston rings...is that the way things are now or should i find 3 ring pistons...Thanks!

2 ringers will be fine, just make sure you order the correct rings for your 3 ringers..
