I bought the kit and upon assembly I realize that the plastic pump housing is slightly different from the original. The original has as main drive shaft seal in the outer top part of the housing.

On the new Sierra there is no place for this seal to go and from what I can tell no other parts in the kit that would go in there to seal the housing on the drive shaft. What am I missing here?

Also, for the life of me I cant remember which way the impeller needs to be turning in the housing, with the housing flipped upside down staring at the impeller which way does it need to be turning?

i put my impeller in place on the drive shaft, then the housing over it, then apply slight pressure to the housing, as i turn the drive shaft clockwise, the impeller will conform to the housing. i find this easier, since the drive shaft is not center of the housing. then the vanes are going the correct way.

Well, I figured out the direction of rotation. The whole driveshaft seal still has me stumped.

Is there any sort of seal on the drive shaft on the newer style impeller housings?

I have the same question. Whats the deal with this seal? The old housing has an oil seal in the top of the housing and the new housing has no seal or a place fo one. Is this the right housing?

They have not used a seal there for a long time. There is an o-ring between the inner metal lining and the housing.
