Is there anyplace I can find a used cylinder head. A new one from Mercruiser is $620. That comes as a whole assembly (valves & everything included), but I don't need the valves. I am looking for-just the metal block part to try and keep the cost down. I can reuse my valves. Is there a boat engine salvage yard I can order one from. The boat is to old to get it separately from Mercruiser. I was told I could try a Chevy Nova head, but I found one and it wasn't right. The holes didn't line up for the intake manifold, and it was only 151 CID, and mine is 181 CID. Any suggestions or places I can go online or not (I can always have it shipped) would be appreciated.
Specs:
MCM 140
Displacement 181 CID
Horsepower 140
Serial # 4919443

Thanks,
I got EbasicPower's phone # and I'll try them tomorrow, I couldn't find one listed on their website.

I'm kind of looking for a used one, $$$$$$$$$$$. Is their another car head I can use, since the Nova won't work, it doesn't look like it, just curious as it would be easier to find and cheaper to buy. But it has to be right so probably not.

Thanks,
You guys have been so great. It was never this easy to find anything before. I'm just not sure whether to get the used with 120 day warranty ($250 plus shipping)and have to put the valves on and everything, whatever that costs ($25 ?)or a new one at $512 with everything ready to go with a longer warranty (and new). Can anyone tell me if Russ's heads are good?
But I wanted to make sure you guys knew how appreciative I am for your suggestions and help. I will definitely go here if I need help again.
Thanks Again.

Cracked head on 140 to 160 merc i/o straight 4 cyl. a friend had a similar problem and an Opel head worked just fine. As I understand Opel made quite a few motors for Merc especially in the late 80s.

Have you considered having the head repaired? There are a number of companies that specialize in this...in Ohio Columbus ColWeld (614-276-5303)is one. I had a diesel head repaired by the many moons ago. Don't know where you are, but there are outfits like them all over the US.
