I just recently finished a basic rebuild of all engine components over the spring. The boat would run amazingly well for several hours then just stop idling almost altogether, well, the floats were sinking. So i replaced the floats and now the motor will not start without a little throttle. I haven't' had a chance to look at it so i figured I would ask first. I am thinking that it is a mixture adjustment, I just replaced the plugs as well, so ill have to see. Also, what is a good idle setting? I cannot seem to get mine below 9001000- rpms.

For my 76 I6 seat the idle mixture screw lightly, then out 1 1/2 turns. That should get it started, then underload, in gear, adjust as needed. Out is richer.

are you setting the idle with the motor in the water and in gear? or are you setting it on the muffs. my 200v6 is about 1000 outa the water and about 800 in water in nuetral, 750 in gear

Set the idle mix in the real water, IN gear.. get's it closer.

-W (you gotta use choke and throttle to start them)

you almost have to flood them to start cold. my 1350 i pump the bulb hard, full idle lever, and choke or primer, turn over a couple of times , pump bulb really hard, then repeat starting. work everytime.
