79 115hp mercury inline 6

i have 125compression on 5 out of 6 cylinders, one is at 25, is this motor still operational? could it just be theres something stuck in that one cylinder? motor hasnt been run for 3yrs. maybe just needs cleaned good?

hey also, can the trim/tilt motor be rebuilt. It only raises the motor half way up then drops. so i assume the motors good. maybe just air in the lines? thanks

no you should'nt run like that and probably needs alot more than cleaned out

She's a Goner. Lemme guess, low compression in either #1 or #3. At least, those are the more common cyl's to fail on the old Inlines.

Time to tear down and assess the damage. Guaranteed fried piston, if you're lucky you won't have to bore the cyl out; but the teardown will tell all.
