79 1400 merc inline 6 control box

is there a way to test the control box on this motor. its off a skeeter i just picked up and was hoping to test it, to see if the guy that had it, fried it. he had all the wireing screwed up. and where would i find a plug for the main harness that comes into the side of this engine. its the one on the inside of the engine case.

Either find a doner engine or CDI/Rapair electronics

my 71 1350 box was so bad i got lucky on ebay and found a new(old stock) controller with the wiring harness. also did the internal harness on the engine. the best money i ever spent.

You can get the internal harness on ebay. Do a search for

"Mercury Outboard (older inlines) Internal Wire Harness"
