79 Black Max 175 Ignition switch

I am upgrading controls and have to install an ignition switch. Do I need a Magneto style or a regular one. What is the difference in the two?

There are specific switches for outboards. You can use outboard switches for outboards or sterndrives. But you can't use sterndrive switches on most outboards. The difference is the Kill circuit that closes when the key is turned off, the M terminals.
