I have a 1979 55hp Evinrude that I just finished rebulding after I blew a rod bearing and replaced the rod, bearing, and crank. It doesn't idle too well so I cleaned the carbs (rebuilt them about 3 months ago) and the idle is still a little off. It also seems to lag a little for a split second when I dump the throttle before it takes off. How do I go about checking to make sure the timing is still correct, how do I make sure the carbs is adjusted properly, and how can I make sure I rebulit the carbs correctly? I just found a third jet on each and figured I didn't do a complete job the first go around.
Thanks for any insight.
