Re: `79 Glastron SSV-177 OMC to Mercruiser
Alright, I know all you guys are waiting for the pics from the pour, and here they are!
The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. Thats pretty much what you get when you remove the forms. I didn't get a chance to take any pics of the forms, but they weren't much to look at anyway. The seacast transom seems very strong, it should have a very good bond to the rest of the transom skin. I still have a good bit of "body work" to do on the outer skin, and some work on the inner skin. Its not as flat as I would like, I would like to get the mounting area flat within a 1/16", thats the spec from Mercruiser. I did a bit of grinding and hand sanding this weekend. The last thing I did was redrill the drain hole, we are forecasted to get 3 to 5 inches of rain!! So if water finds its way into the boat, it will have a way to get out. We had a wild thunderstorm last night and dumped 2.5", it left a bit of water in the bilge, the open drain hole it help this week......

I decided to remove the two studs in the transom assembly and attempt to mount it to see how close things were gonna be. BTW, the studs in the transom assembly are held in with red loctite, they require heat to be removed, note the torch. The transom assembly slipped in great and I put the backing plate on, attaching it with the two bolts near the top. It looked pretty good, but not really at that point to drill the holes yet.
Thats it for now, thanks!!!
