79 model 200 merc. on newer bullet boat

im putting a older 200 merc. on my new bullet boat engine has a 12 pin female plug and my boat has a 8 pin male plug with 4 other wires coming out ? is there a wiring harness adapter or do i have to change the control box also?

If you check with a Mercury dealer they should have one available Mercury makes most adapters or find a harness for your engine and cut the to ends of and spice the appropriate wires to gether.
