Re: 79 walkaround grady white. stay away? or buy
Hey Bar-B-Q..just read an old post of yours.Looks like we might be in the same boat. I recently bought a 1978 20' Grady WA. The boat has a 2000 125 hp mercury. Way too slow for this boat. Just bought a 1980 mint 200 hp mercury. I found the starboard side transom thru hull fitting from the self bailing deck was leaking.Wood around around fitting really soft. Not sure how much water was absorbed.Reading about your previous owner's experience with the 200 and the advice of other posts now I'm left with 2lbs in the seat of my pants that I swear wasn't there before I began reading.I read all there is about sea cast stuff.Don't know if Frankie from australia ever used it.Question is..what ever happened with your boat? Is transom holding up? Any repairs to it? Was it very expensive? I probably have more questions but I think this is all I my stomach can take for now! Any help is mucho appreciated! Thanks!
