hello after reading about so many of you guys projects i thought i may as well tell you a bit about one of my projects it's still a work in progress and things can be change'd at any time
as i have post'd in another thread this boat cam with a trailer as a take it or leave it , in many waysi'd have been better off leaveing it but you know how us fishing and boat guys are :)
to start off i had to reinstall the infloor gas tank and repair the floor section over it,, i didn't think to take pics at the time , any way it wasn't untill i was
nearly finesh'd with that that i got arround to checking the transum ,and you guess'd it it was rotton on both sides but new in the middle ,?? still haven't figure'd that one out lol
any way this thing has a fair size'd cap on it and there was no way for me a one man crew was going to remove it in one piece so i had no choice but to cut it , so thats the way i went right or wrong too late now

Re: 79 Wellcraft 190air slot -- work in progress

didn't realy think about takeing a lot of pics but redoing that transum was a real learning experiance for me , sure wish i would have found this site back then
next comes set up inside i had no idea what to do or how it was set up when new , one thing i did find out the ready made seat box's were way too low and storage was minimal at best , what i came up with was not perminate and subject to be change'd but so far it has work'd out very well for us fishing 4 guys out of the boat , one or two fish coolers and a small drink cooler seems to work out fine ,
the seat box's have a floor thats 3 inches off the boat floor so water is not a problem , it's still a work in progress so i'm open to idea's
as you can see the cap doesn't show it was cut untill your right up to it , and the rear compartment as far as i can find out had a canvas cover that snap'd down stoping things for geting into the bilge area , not sure exactly how i'm gona finesh that up , posibly boxing in the two compartments on each side with a lay down door on them and a net or cover in the middle
this was my first time seting an engine and rewireing the entire boat from an empty hull

Re: 79 Wellcraft 190air slot -- work in progress

I had a 83 Wellcraft sunhatch 196 a few years back and had to do a total transom job on. I had used it for a few years with a totally shot transom I had no idea it was bad until I started reading around on this site went home and tested a few things and WOW the whole transom was mush. I had been skiing (hard), had my family in the boat for three years and never had a clue it was that unsafe. It had a 200 horse evinrude on it as well. After I redid the transom the boat was rock solid until I sold it, I loved that boat it would take a wave like no other twenty footer I have ever ridden in. I made a cover for the bilge area out of some vinyl and snaps top and bottom it looked great when it was on you couldnt see any of the bilge area. Even though when I did the transom I painted all of the bilge white it looked like a brand new boat, and I could spend a week at lake powell and it wouldnt leak a drop. Nice Boat keep up the good work..
