I have these engines in my 2004 Carver 366. Just bought it last fall. I changed the oil and filters. The VP operators manual states with filter, 9 qts. (see attached). I put 6 in it and ran it. One engine is all but full and the other is 1/2 way down to add. So...stupid question is... How much are these supposed to hold? I previously had a 2004 Carver sedan and it had Crusaders in it. It held 7 qts with filter. It's the same GM engine so in my opinion the 9 qts shown in my book is wrong? Hard to believe though? Anyone else ever battle this? I just want to have the required level of oil in my engine and it shouldn't be this difficult!

Only 2 oil pans available for the Gen 7 motor (8.1 liter)

Look at the sump. If it's full length and depth, 9 quarts. If it's a half sump, 6 quarts
